Yakuza Moon
Remember i told you guys i read book ?! Shall blog about it Since its nice
Yakuza Moon ; Memoirs of a Gangster’s Daughter – by Shoko Tendo
Brief summary:

- Shoko Tendo grew up the daughter of a yakuza boss which allowed her to become a victim of discrimination from peers, teachers and neighbors.
- Her father was prisoned and her family fell into terrible debt.

- Tendo rebelled and became a regular visitor to nightclubs
- She became a juvenile delinquent at the age of twelve
- She spent eight months in a reform school
- Shoko Tendo huffed paint thinner
- Soon became hooked on amphetamines and sex
- And was the victim of rape, attempted rape, and coerced sex.

- Adulthood brought big bucks and glamour when she started working as a bar hostess
- But among her many rich and loyal patrons there were also abusive clients, one of whom beat her so badly that her face was left permanently scarred
- and was involved with a string of married men

- When her mother passed on, Tendo plunged into such a deep depression that she tried to commit suicide twice
- Tendo takes us through the bad times with warmth and candor, and gives a moving and inspiring account of how she overcame a lifetime of discrimination and hardship.

* Fyi, thats her kid. Shoko Tendo lives in Tokyo with her 2 year old daughter Komachi.
- Getting tattooed, from the base of her neck to the tips of her toes, was an act that empowered her to start making changes in her life after her father passed on too.

- She quit her job as a hostess and started working towards her dream of being a writer
- On her last day at the bar she looked up at the full moon, a sight she never forgot. The moon became a symbol of her struggle to become whole, and the title of the book she wrote as an epitaph for herself and her family.

Shoko Tendo walks in the grounds of the Hitennotsuka cemetery where her parents (father Hiroyasu Tendo, and mother Satomi Tendo) rest, in Sugamo district of Tokyo, Japan, Friday, Aug. 31st, 2007.

Sidetrack a little lol. She’s already 40 and she’s still damn pretty and hot!
Basically a story of a Japanese woman’s horrible youth. The shocking, yet intensely moving memoir of 37-year-old Tendo, who grew up the daughter of a yakuza boss, takes readers through her downward spiral with warmth and candor, and gives a moving and inspiring account of how she overcame a lifetime of discrimination and abuse.
Emotionally complex and thoroughly heart-rending.
* Its a good emotional book worth reading. And even motivated me for reading! Lol.
